AP CPASTONE DIPLOMA
The AP Capstone Diploma™ is an advanced academic program developed by College Board that helps students build essential skills for college and career success. It consists of two yearlong courses: AP Seminar and AP Research, which focus on:
- Independent research
- Critical thinking
- Evidence-based argumentation
- Collaboration
- Effective communication
Types of recognition
Students can earn one of the following distinctions:
AP Capstone Diploma™: Awarded to students who score 3 or higher in AP Seminar, AP Research, and four additional AP exams of their choice
AP Seminar and Research Certificate™: Awarded to students who score 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research, but do not complete four additional AP exams
Both recognitions are highly valued by universities in the U.S. and internationally and are included in the official AP score report sent to colleges
What Do Students Do in AP Seminar and AP Research?
- AP Seminar: Students explore complex topics from multiple perspectives, develop analytical skills, and present well-supported arguments.
- AP Research: Students choose a topic of personal interest, conduct in-depth research, write an academic paper, and present their findings.
