Panel: ¿Cómo van los jóvenes?

By: Diana Quintero Acosta, Comunnications & Marketing – Colegio San José A week ago, we had the pleasure of sharing the stage with two incredible women: Lucía Avendaño, Director of Barranquilla Cómo Vamos and Érika Fontalvo, Director of El Heraldo in the panel ¿Cómo van los jóvenes?, a space for families and students of Semestralización (9th, 10th, and 11th Grade), as part of the training we provide at the Escuela de Familias. Our Rector, F. Luis F. Gómez, S.J., was our representative.   The morning of January 25th was an opportunity for attendees to ask questions about the present and future of young people in the Colombian Caribbean and the world. We are grateful to the guests for sharing their knowledge with us.   At the end, parents received their children’s report cards as well as the new edition of our magazine LINK. Watch the video. By: Dairo Orozco Molina, Academic Coordinator – San José School Barranquilla Today, Compañía de Jesús – Colegio San José officially launched our New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Internal Reflection Process, bringing together over 125 passionate educators, psychologists, educational support staff and administrators. Together, we embarked on this year-and-a-half, laying the groundwork for thoughtful conversations, collaboration, and growth.   For us, this journey is more than just accreditation -it’s a valuable opportunity to discern, reflect and contemplate who we are as a learning community on the Caribbean Region of Colombia and how we can continue to foster high-quality learning experiences for every student.   We express our sincere gratitude to our Accreditation Team, Ms. Luisa Álvarez Sanes and Mr. Edgar Barrios, for their enthusiasm, commiment, and energy. U. Toronto – CSJB Exchange

By: Marina Dugand González, Coordinadora de Global Education – Colegio San José Diana Quintero Acosta, Comunicadora y Promotora Institucional – Colegio San José   Learn about Emily Berdejo Guardiola’s Incredible Exchange Experience! Emily, a Learning Cycle V (Semestralización) student at Colegio San José, spent her July 2024 vacation on an exciting exchange program at a prestigious university in Toronto, Canada (University of Toronto). At Colegio San José, we’re proud to provide our students with global opportunities that help shape them into true global citizens. Emily says: “I want to share with you the joy and gratitude I feel after having lived the wonderful experience of this Summer Camp in Canada. Spending time on the University of Toronto campus, taking classes, and improving my English has been one of the most enriching experiences of my life. This experience not only allowed me to improve my English, reaching an advanced level as the only Colombian student, but it also taught me valuable lessons in coexistence, adaptation, and time and money management in an international environment. I learned about different cultures, embraced diversity, and experienced the city in a way I will never forget. All mornings were dedicated to classes, and the afternoons to excursions, which helped me get to know the city of Toronto better and make lasting friendships. I am deeply grateful to Colegio San José, which, from the very beginning, prepared me to make the most of this opportunity, as well as to God and my family for their unconditional support. Without a doubt, I would repeat this experience, and I feel enormously grateful for everything I’ve learned and experienced.” Watch Emily’s video. Click on image:

NEASC Visit (Academic Director)

By: Dairo Orozco Molina, Academic Director - Colegio San José I want to thank each and every one of you for your willingness, generosity, warmth and openness during the three days of our visit. Mrs. Ann Galvani and Mrs. Irene Coe, NEASC's academic peers, were very impressed with the reception and welcome from the entire San José educational community. Thank you very much! The results of the visit are very satisfactory and they guide us all in the search for integral excellence in each of the different aspects of the formation proposal that we offer as a Jesuit School in the Caribbean Region. We will be receiving the official report from NEASC in six weeks and there we will have a concrete tool to continue organizing our path towards accreditation. I value significantly the effort of everyone in all the departments of the school and I know that this path we are traveling will lead us through different stages to the daily awareness of our work in a school of the Society of Jesus.
