What is KiVa?
KiVa is a world-leading Finnish program for the prevention and intervention of school bullying. Developed by the University of Turku, it is grounded in extensive research and has been proven to significantly reduce incidents of bullying in schools.
At Colegio San José de Barranquilla, we recognize that the holistic education of our students involves anticipating and addressing the challenges that may affect their well-being. For this reason, we continually reaffirm our commitment to building a safe, respectful, and caring school environment.
In response to the growing concern about bullying as an issue that affects the entire educational community, we have decided to strengthen our preventive efforts by joining KiVa, an internationally recognized initiative grounded in scientific research for the prevention of bullying. This partnership allows us to continue promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and mutual care, in harmony with the values that inspire the education at Colegio San José.

Our KiVa Team
At San José School of Barranquilla, the prevention of school bullying is a shared responsibility of the entire educational community. For this reason, we have dedicated teams within the institution responsible for monitoring, intervening, and providing timely support in any situation related to bullying.
As part of our implementation of the KiVa program, we have trained more than 50 teachers at the school, who have been prepared and certified in this international anti-bullying methodology. These educators are equipped with pedagogical tools and clear protocols to identify early warning signs, intervene appropriately, and support both the affected students and the group involved.
The Role of Our Teachers
Monitor the school climate and detect potential risk situations.
Intervene in a structured and educational manner when cases of bullying arise.
Support and guide students, promoting empathy, respect, and collective responsibility.
This work is carried out in coordination with the school counseling team and families, strengthening an institutional culture based on mutual care, positive coexistence, and respect for each person’s dignity.
Through this ongoing preparation, San José School reaffirms its commitment to providing a safe environment where every student can learn, grow, and fully develop.
